China has accused the United States of provoking a military conflict in the South China Sea region, as tensions between the two countries erupted at the summit of Asia Pacific, ASEAN. The video conference comes just days after China fired rockets into the much-anticipated maritime zone, as its favorite military bases in the region, which are also owned by Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan. At the summit, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said his country's goals in the South China Sea are peace and stability, adding that the United States intends to see tensions and take advantage of conflicts. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said China is continuing its practice of capturing neighbors in this important seaport.
